This
doe has a very strange birth mark. At first I thought it was a shadow,
but when I saw her on the hoof, the dark shade was still with her. The
blotch goes under her belly and comes up in a strip on the left side.
You can also see it extend just past her right shoulder.
Korbin
and his dad, Jay, enjoying taking a nice 7 pt. Korbin was 6 at the time
of the picture, but he has been sitting in the blind with me since he
was 3 years old. Boy loves the ranch, and I love having him around.
Win-Win for both of us.
This
picture was taken at my friend's, Fred Leyendecker, place, JCIL RANCH,
in Webb, County. This is a small two year-and-a-half with excellent
genetics. Fred was the one who turned me on to the economics and
benefits of cottonseed feed. He has some monsters in his place.
I've
have seen several of these "Roman Nose" deer at the ranch. I don't know
if it is just genetics or what. There are a couple of does hanging
around, so they have to be related. Strange looking.
In
an attempt to help curb poaching across the country, Whitetails
Unlimited has available an anti-poaching property boundary sign that is
suitable for use anywhere in the United States. The sign, part of WTU's
Whitetail Watch Program, encourages anyone who sees suspicious activity
to report it to their proper wildlife law enforcement agency.
